Your calculations are exactly that — yours.
CueCalc was built around a simple rule: nothing you type or scan ever needs to leave your iPhone. Here's the full, detailed explanation.
Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Last updated: July 4, 2026
CueCalc does not require an account, does not run ads, and does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Every calculation — including camera-based scanning in the AR Math Solver — is processed entirely on your device. The only data that ever leaves your device is (a) an optional, private iCloud sync of your own history/Cues tied to your Apple ID, which only you can access, and (b) standard App Store purchase transactions handled entirely by Apple. We never see, sell, or share your personal data with third parties.

1. Information We Collect
CueCalc is designed to need as little information about you as possible. Specifically:
- No account or sign-up. CueCalc does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide your name, email address, or phone number to use any calculator mode.
- No advertising identifiers. We do not integrate any advertising SDKs, and we do not access Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- No third-party analytics. CueCalc does not embed third-party analytics or behavioral-tracking SDKs (e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Firebase Analytics).
- Content you create. The only "content" CueCalc handles is what you type or scan into the app: expressions, Cue formulas, variable names and values, history entries, and Scratchpad notes. This content is described in detail in Section 2.
2. On-Device Data & Local Storage
Everything you do inside CueCalc — every calculation, every Cue you build, every history entry, every Scratchpad note, and your app settings (theme, sound, haptics, VAT country, text size, and so on) — is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults and on-device storage frameworks. This data:
- Is never transmitted to CueCalc's developers or any analytics service
- Stays on your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync (see Section 3) or export it yourself (e.g. as a CSV or PDF run log)
- Is removed automatically if you delete the app from your device, subject to Section 8
3. Private iCloud Sync
If you're signed into iCloud on your device, CueCalc can optionally sync your history, Cues, and Scratchpad entries across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit framework and your private CloudKit database.
- This private database is scoped to your personal Apple ID — CueCalc's developers have no access to it, cannot read its contents, and cannot identify you from it.
- Data in transit and at rest within iCloud is encrypted using Apple's infrastructure and subject to Apple's own Privacy Policy.
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time from your device's Settings, or by turning off iCloud Drive access for CueCalc in Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
4. Camera & AR Math Solver
The AR Math Solver feature requests access to your device's camera so it can recognize handwritten or printed math expressions using Apple's on-device Vision framework.
- No image, video frame, or scan result is ever uploaded to a server. Recognition and solving both happen entirely on your device.
- CueCalc does not store the photos or video frames captured during scanning — they exist only transiently in memory while a scan is in progress.
- You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera > CueCalc. The rest of the app continues to work normally without camera access; only the AR Math Solver mode is affected.
5. Purchases & Subscriptions
CueCalc Pro subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold and billed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit.
- CueCalc never receives, transmits, or stores your credit card number, billing address, or other payment credentials — these are handled exclusively by Apple under its own privacy and payment terms.
- CueCalc receives only the information necessary to confirm your entitlement (i.e. whether you currently hold an active subscription or the lifetime unlock), delivered through Apple's StoreKit APIs.
- Subscription management, cancellation, and refund requests are all handled through your Apple ID, not directly by CueCalc. See our Terms of Use for details.
6. Network Requests We Make
CueCalc is designed to work fully offline for almost everything it does. A small number of features make network requests, and none of them include personal or identifying information:
- Currency conversion rates. The Unit Converter's currency category fetches current exchange rates from a market-data provider. Only currency codes (e.g. "USD", "EUR") and a timestamp are sent — never the amount you're converting, your identity, or your location.
- App Store transactions. Purchases and subscription status checks go directly through Apple's StoreKit servers, as described in Section 5.
- Bug reports you choose to send. Nothing is sent automatically in the background. If you use the in-app "Report a Bug" feature, your description plus basic diagnostics (app version, iOS version, device model) are sent directly to us so we can investigate — this only happens when you actively submit a report.
7. Data Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share your calculations, Cues, or history with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. The only "third parties" involved in CueCalc's operation are:
- Apple — for iCloud sync (Section 3), App Store purchases (Section 5), and, if you choose to send one, crash or diagnostic reports you explicitly opt into through iOS's own "Share With App Developers" setting.
- Our currency-rate data provider — receives only anonymous currency-code lookups, as described in Section 6.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Locally stored data (history, Cues, Scratchpad, settings) persists on your device for as long as the app remains installed, or until you delete individual entries yourself within the app. Deleting the CueCalc app from your device removes all of its locally stored data.
If you've enabled iCloud sync, a copy also lives in your private CloudKit database until you delete it from within the app, disable iCloud sync, or remove it via Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > CueCalc.
9. Children's Privacy
CueCalc is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because CueCalc doesn't collect personal information from any user in the first place, this risk is inherently minimized. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 14 and we will investigate promptly.
10. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA & more)
Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your personal data:
If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR)
- The right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
If you're a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)
- The right to know what personal information is collected, used, and disclosed
- The right to request deletion of personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — CueCalc does not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights
Because almost all CueCalc data lives locally on your device or in your own private iCloud account, the most direct way to exercise these rights is simply to delete entries in-app, disable iCloud sync, or delete the app itself. For anything else, contact us at the email in Section 14 and we'll respond within a reasonable time frame, consistent with applicable law.
11. International Data Transfers
CueCalc is available in 175 countries and regions through the App Store. Because on-device data generally never leaves your device, and iCloud sync is governed entirely by Apple's own global infrastructure and safeguards (including Apple's Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable), CueCalc itself does not separately transfer your personal data internationally.
12. Security
CueCalc relies on iOS's built-in security model — including on-device encryption at rest and Apple's iCloud encryption in transit and at rest — to protect your data. No app can guarantee absolute security, but by minimizing what we collect and keeping data on-device by default, CueCalc minimizes what could ever be exposed.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
